Study visit to the TAItech partner universities/Taiwan: Students of HAWtech (Aachen, Berlin, Darmstadt, Dresden, Esslingen, Karlsruhe) on 12.09.2024 at the National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT) (Photo: NTUT)
Students from six universities set off at the beginning of September to get to know their TAItech partner universities* in Taiwan. Vibrant cities, breathtaking landscapes and the world-famous cuisine at the night markets - there was always something new to discover, explore and taste.
Not only Taipei, but also Taichung, Kaohsiung and Douliu are full of life - from the bustling city center to Rainbow Village, Sun-Moon Lake, densely forested mountains and peaceful temples. The subtropical heat did nothing to dampen the spirit of adventure and discovery.
Eleven students from the HAWtech consortium in Aachen, Berlin, Darmstadt, Dresden, Karlsruhe and Esslingen visited the 6 TAItech partner universities in central and southern Taiwan as part of a study trip on the topic of “Sustainability and Green Technology”. The study trip is the result of many years of cooperation between the two consortia.
A wide variety of topics and plenty of time for exchange ensured lively discussions and a good atmosphere despite the packed program: specialist lectures, laboratory tours, workshops and a crash course in Chinese, as well as meeting Taiwanese students made the study trip a special experience. Insights into everyday study life and everyday life now make the decision to spend a semester abroad - whether for study or an internship - easier.
The culinary discoveries and refinements are also fun and motivate the bachelor students for a longer study visit. After just a few days, each participant was able to gain numerous impressions and ideas - and also network with fellow students from the other HAWtech and TAItech universities. Last but not least, they were also impressed by the warm hospitality and the relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
The consortium agreement was signed in July 2017. Since then, there have been active student exchanges with the following five TAItech partners in particular, who have invested heavily in modern laboratories and good equipment in recent years:
The National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology is so far the only engineering university with a German department.
For the management of the international offices present, the study trip proved to be an ideal platform to exchange ideas with the counterpart colleagues in direct contact - and for once not through the media.
